Hey, I did it, finally put the badge on my blog sign up for the new letter and became a follower. Thanks guys for the beautiful digis, although, I believe I am to late to enter the challenge, I will the next time. thanks Josie
Lovely work here... can I just say though that I think your 'Young love' looks very similar to Mo Mannings Ragged Romeo... one of my fav images I must admit....Did you realise that? Hope you don't mind me mentioning it....
Hello! I am concerned about the vast similarities between this image and Mo Manning's "Ragged Romeo". Even the angle of the little girl's feet are exactly the same, which can lead people to believe that the image was copied and then small changes were made. I hope you will consider this, and the fact that digi stamp buyers who support artists' right to earn from their own designs generally will not buy images they suspect have been copied from someone else.
Did you "borrow" that image from Mo Manning? Looks very familiar.
That to me is screaming out "I am a very bad copy of a Mo Manning digi" overlayed in a graphics editor and the match ups are far to many for this to be an *origional idea*.
Your reputation at stake Darla, those who copy get boycotted by those of us who buy.
Shame on you...
Hello all,
I am not familiar with the image you are mentioning, but I am off to try and find it so I can compare myself. I got the idea from this image from a photograph I saw somewhere at my local art teacher's studio. I will see if I can find it to post...she may or may not still have it! I sure hope so.
However, I would rather take it down then be offensive as though I was trying to steal images.
When I find the image you mention, I will compare it myself and then take it down if I think it is too similar...though I don't see how it could be that close...but I suppose similarities can happen.
Thanks for pointing it out to me!
Okay, I just found her image and WOW! It does look very similar....I will definitely have to consider taking it down...though I am amazed that that could happen this way.
I consider Mo Manning an amazing artist (and person) and have no desire to copy her images (as great as they are). I don't want to even resemble that I may have copied an image.
I contacted my art teacher and she doesn't think she still has the picture around...bummer for me.
I can't possibly know if my images look similar to other's until I release them...and so I thank you very much for letting me know.
And, I want to publicly apologize to Mo Manning for any possible similarities in the image Young Love and Ragged Romeo.
I will replace the image with one that I do have proof of where I got the inspiration...I can even post that if I need to.
I hope this is innocent plagarism bc this is absolutely derivative of Mo Manning's "Ragged Romeo." Even if you're giving the image for free you are still deriving an unjust benefit from the work of another artist bc Mo's work is driving people to your site. Thank you for promptly responding to our comments. Please take Mo's image down during your inquiry.

I don't see the similarity at all. I'm sorry you were attacked like that. There are lots of similar images out there. People from different parts of the world have similar ideas. But I looked at the image in question. Again - Sorry you were attacked.
Ugh...
p.s. here is the image that folks are saying is like it. I don't get the similarity. At all!
http://digitalpenciltoo.blogspot.com/2011/12/ragged-romeo.html
This little girl bear image looks an awful lot like Dustin Pike's work. I have sent him a link so he can see for himself.
Much of "your" work looks like that of others. Shame on you!!!
Thank you for your prompt and gracious response to our concerns. You burnish your reputation with such sensitivity. I will continue to look at your work.
Minneapple
Marilou, I googled Dustine Pike and found his images. I don't see anything there even looks similar to my bear. He is welcome to send me an image to the contrary..I am open.
My images are not copies of other people's work. Sorry you think so.
Sorry for the spelling error...I meant Dustin Pike (and as I typed again I added an e automatically again...and had to delete) .
Hi everyone. I know, this likely isn't my place to say anything, but watching comment after comment come in, even after an apology was made, I felt as a friend, I had to say something. As soon as Digi Darla received the comments in re: Mo Manning's design, she was very quick to comment, apologize, address and look into the situation. In the meantime, the image has been removed from our challenge in respect to this issue. I've been working with Kim for awhile now and in that time, we've become good friends and she's let me into her 'real' life outside of the internet. Knowing her as I do, I truly believe what she said in her comment above. She wouldn't intentionally hurt/plagerize anyone. There is so much amazing talent out there and along the way, even when we don't set out intentionally to do something like this, sometimes it happens. In this example, she seen an image in her art teacher's studio and yes, there most certainly are a lot of similarities for sure BUT Digi Darla didn't shy away from anything, she immediately dealt with the issue at hand and has already sent me a new issue for our readers to earn as their freebie. I notice some comments have been deleted and I truly hope you won't boycott Digi Darla or our challenges as in my opinion, she's a stand up person, especially the way she handled this.
I've visited some of you who have left comments and I truly hope you'll join us, you're a talented bunch for sure.
I also visited Dustin Pike's work and again, he's amazing at what he does, but I didn't see any similarity between the bear images? His have little stitches on them and to me look like teddy bears.
One good thing out of all this is that I had a chance to visit Mo Manning's designs and her work is awesome, as well as Dustin Pike's and again, love both their designs. Thank you for that.
I came here because I had head you have an image similar to Mo Mannings. I'm happy that you remvoed it. I just wanted to let you know that when blogs have falling snow, hearts or other objects on there blogs, it slows my system A LOT and I do not remain on their page.
Anyone who states they can`t see the *similarities* between Mo`s artwork and Digi Darla is really confusing to me. Every line is SO similar to Mo`s beautiful artwork.
However, I am pleased to see that you removed the image and have addressed the situation :) And I appreciate your friend *Karen* taking the time to post what a great person you are online and in RL ...
Again, let me say that I was amazed to see the similarities and the inspiration was a PHOTO, not another image.
Saying I see similarities does not mean they are the same. I took down the image for professional courtesy that I would like extended to me in the same situation....if I were to claim the same about someone else's work,
It is shame indeed for both of us.
Mo does not answer my email and has never as of yet contacted me personally.
I think you did a fine job in taking down the image & apologizing right away. I totally respect you for that & I do believe that you did not know. Sorry for saying shame on you, it was not my problem to begin with but I am a fan & customer of Mo's work. Again I apolgize to you.
All I have to say is Kim (DIGI DARLA) handled this in a very MATURE fashion! Kim is very talented in every way!
Just wanted to update and say that Mo has responded to my email just so it is clear and it doesn't seem like she has not contacted me to any readers.
Thanks to everyone that has commented here...positive or negative. I appreciate each and every one of them no matter what.
Of course, I especially appreciate all the kind words and I would be amiss not to say a great BIG thank you to those that came (and are coming) in my defense and those that accepted my (still) sincere apologies with grace.
Many thanks to ALL of you wonderful Ladies! You are all top notch! Mo and I are both blessed to have fans as loyal as you are!
I am so glad that you removed this image that definately was copied from Mo's. Now weather you want to admit to that or not is not important now because you will have to live with that. You know, looking at yourself in the mirror and all.. I am sure that you you will pay for this in the end because people that appreciate original illustrations will not support copy cat art work. I am sure this will cost you a lot of customers, old ones and potential new ones. Mo's work is loved by many and her reputation is untarnished. Hopefully you learned your lesson from this mistake that you made. Again, thank you for your apology to Mo and for removing the piece in question. My understanding is that you have a couple more that look like duplicates so either you need to find a new illustrator or you need to go through all of the images that you sell and make sure they are not copies of other illustrators.
Thank you for the cute bear. Sorry for all the hammering. I believe you, I did not see your item.
I have followed the instructions for the little boy image. appreciate the offer, thank you so much xx
Hi! I am now a follower. I have your badge at my blog, http://joyinart.blogspot.com , and I have an entry in your challenge. Your little bear got me doing my first digital art and now I'm learning how to use a paint program. Ever onward to new things!
Rae Ann O.
Thank you
Hi hun, i am already a follower, and your badge is on my sidebar, i dont use twitter or facebook, sorry, do i still qualify for that cute little boy, i would love to use him to enter your challenge, Big Hugz Kenzie xx
OMG!!
I just seen all the comments and i have to say wow, i really dont think that was at all fair, its a big world and not everyone knows everybody elses work, some may not of heard of Mo, i know i only found her website a year ago, and for people that have only just started cardmaking maybe they have not seen her images at all, i totally disagree with people stealing others images when they work so hard to produce them, but i think Darla acted courteous and Professional, she took down the image, apologised publically and answered all your comments, so feel others should offer the same courteous and give the benifit of the doubt, Everyone deserves a chance to rectify themselves, I dont think this was in any right to publically humiliate somone in this way, there are ways of sorting this out privately, I hope People understand i dont want to upset anyone but we all have feelings and there are better ways to sort these matters out, hope you will still carry on with your blog Darla!
Hugs xxx
